Who We Are
"I came that you may have life and have it more abundantly."
Since 1960, Hillcrest has been a community of Christ followers whose lives are characterized by sharing God's love with others. Since our launch from First Covenant in the Westport area of Kansas City to the suburbs of Johnson County, our mission to know Christ and make him known continues. From the beginning, God embedded that sending spirit in our DNA—sending people into our neighborhoods, work places, schools, city, prisons, as well as out into the world. For more than fifty years, Hillcrest has expanded from its original chapel to a larger sanctuary, more classrooms, a student center, church plants, and at times other campuses. But Hillcrest is not a building. We are a people who have given our lives to Christ, and we invite others to join us as we seek to fulfill God's mission in the world together.
We are men and women of all ages and stages along with youth and children who are learning together how to connect to God, each other, and into engagement with our neighborhood, community, and world. At our core, we are biblical, devotional, connectional and missional.
We believe that the most basic need of every person is to be brought from death into life and that an abundant life is a life of fruitfulness, discipleship and disciple-making. We invite you into worship, community and purpose with us.
To know Christ and make him known.
To bring every person to life in Christ.
