Mission Teams

Prayer Team
Letters and e-mails received each week from any of our missionaries are distilled into specific requests for Prayer and Praise. These requests are prayed for specifically by the Tuesday morning Missions Prayer group which meets from 9:30 to 11:00, and Prayer and Praise is sent by email to others in the church who desire to pray for missions. To be added to a weekly Prayer & Praise, contact  .

Short-Term Team
The role of the Short-Term Ministry (STM) Team is to provide spiritual leadership and oversight for the short-term mission activities of Hillcrest. The STM Team discerns where and how God is calling the church to serve through short-term team ministry – which can be in Kansas City, the U.S., or around the globe. The STM Team is responsible for supporting the ministry teams Hillcrest sends on mission by organizing trips, developing ministry leaders, training teams, and providing prayer. If you’d like to know more about being involved with short-term missions, contact  .

Local Team
Local Missions desires to mutually partner our congregation with area ministries who demonstrate and proclaim the Good News of Jesus. We regularly pray for our ministry partners and seek to connect groups and individuals at Hillcrest with our various neighborhoods, communities and city. Ultimately, we seek to grow nearer to and more like Christ. Local ministry partners are connected organizations who serve our city in a variety of ways from helping settle refugee families to tutoring urban students, becoming a friend of an international university scholar, volunteering in prisons, and beyond. If you’d like to know more about being involved with local missions, contact  .

Justice Team
The Hillcrest Justice Team meets monthly to discuss ways to bring awareness to the problem of sex trafficking in Kansas City. If you would like to join or are just interested in more information, our meetings are open. We meet the 4th Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM to pray, and the meeting then starts at 7 PM.

We are also part of KC Street Hope, a local organization of churches and NGOs that work together in local efforts to combat this growing and terrible problem. Through education and prayer, we seek to appropriate God’s heart for the oppressed as portrayed in scripture. For more information contact Sheri Thompson,  . We’d love to have you join us in this battle for justice!

Indigenous Ministry Team
The team comes alongside our ministry partners working among their own people, in their own countries, to provide prayer and support as they bring the love of Christ to their people. If you’d like to know more about being involved with indigenous missions, contact  .
